A young man wants to commit suicide publicly and in the presence of as many people as possible so persuades a public relations firm to exploit the event. Later, he changes his mind but finds that by this time he is no longer in control of the situation. A film which left a profound mark on the landscape of late-1960s British cinema, with echoes of its visual style evident in the work of such directors as Stanley Kubrick, Nicolas Roeg and Michael Winner.
