Doctors Herbert West and Dan Cain work as doctors during the civil war in Peru. Dead bodies pile up around them, giving them endless opportunities to experiment with reviving the dead. Back at Miskatonic University, they use their newfound knowledge to use Cain's dead fiancee's heart to create a new girlfriend for him.
